this little coffee pot is remarkable.. let me start out that i have owned it around 6 months, and i have loved it, its programmable( which i never use) and it is perfect size for me, i drink two big mugs of coffee a day and it is pretty well the size of one pot full, ... so no issues.. so why the mediocre review? Well after about 5-6 months, the little lid on the water/coffee reservoir developed a crack... and after two more days (uses) it was completely cracked across the top and broken off. so evidently is made of a poor grade plastic. so dissapointing for me, i found this perfect little pot and it is literally falling apart. ((

Perfect for 2 people, fits under low cabinets. But.....went through 2 in a year, just stopped working...light would just kept blinking and never made coffee again. Never felt the unit get hot, I suppose the heating element burned out yet again. Good news is Walmart/Ge customer service will replace it even though I don't have the receipt from 6 months ago.

My husband and I are new coffee drinkers. We bought this little pot not even a year ago and the top part that you open to pour water/put the coffee in broke [so we have to hold it open everytime]. We could deal with that but then the actual POT handle broke off of the pot. We now have to use a towel or something to pour our coffee since its so hot [we have to keep it on there though in order for the coffee to come out]. I wouldn't recommend this one! Now we have to buy a new pot but I'm sure we might as well just buy a whole new coffee maker.

Served us well but quality may be deteriorating

We got this coffeemaker shortly after we moved 4 years ago. It has served us well. It gives us coffee in a short amount of time, and we don't need to buy filters for it. It still gives us good coffee after these 4 years although I wonder if it can be cleaned with vinegar; the instructions don't mention it. Part of the arm assembly on the top of the maker has broken, but it still makes good coffee. I would like it better if it had a calculator-battery operated clock so that I don't have to set the time every time I make coffee. But overall it has given me good service. I would not buy one now, however, because of all these 1-star reviews this product has gotten, especially for 2013 and 2014 purchases, making me think that the quality of this coffeemaker is deteriorating. Find an old one at a thrift store or on eBay, maybe.

We have gone through 3 in less than 2 years. I will say that Walmart does stand behind its warrenty. When the first one broke the handle broke off the coffee pot and so I called and they don't sell just the pot but she said to just bring it in and they would replace the whold thing for a new one, and they did and it was that easy. 7 months into the 2nd one it just stopped working... all the lights blink but it just would not make coffee and I have to say that looking back I think it really stopped making hot coffee at about 3 months but I just thought it was me. So I packed it up went back to walmart and without any problems they gave me the third coffee pot. The third pot never really made hot coffee and it only worked for about 6 months... I have to say I only stuck it out because the pot really looked solid and it cleaned up really nice, but I guess when you only work for a few months you don't really have to to look worn out :( So I thought about going back to Walmart and I am sure they would have replaced it again but I am done. I guess its true with coffee pots also that looks are not everything.

This coffee maker is attractive looking and relatively easy to use. The first few months I was reasonably satisfied with it. However, I did notice shortly after I started using it that the plastic lid did not seem to close properly so hot steam would spew out of the top. After using it for over six months, a crack developed on this lid. Then I started to find pieces of black plastic on the counter and floor! The entire plastic lid / top of the coffee maker has essentially disintegrated! If you read the other reviews, you'll see this has happened to other consumers. This product should be recalled; it is absolutely substandard!

I have owned this coffee pot for over 2 years. I am very surprised to see low ratings for this product. The price is amazing (from Walmart). I have just seen if for $76.00 exact same model at a department store. I love how this product looks. Nicely fits under counter-tops (though I have never owned or seen one that doesn't, but this 'feature' seems to be something everyone mentions!) It is programmable, and auto switches off after 1 hour. I have used it daily, often more than once since new. Love it!

I`m really impressed with this little coffee pot. So easy to use, and makes a really good cup of coffee quickly. I`ve had it for several months, and ended up buying one for someone else, too, because I liked it so well.

Bought this GE 5 Cup Coffee Maker Last Christmas At Our Local Walmart Store, Because Our Black & Decker 4 Cup Started Leaking After About 4 Years And Needed To Replace If Right Away. It Worked Well For My Wife And I For Almost A Year, Until This Christmas Eve Morning When The Cheap Plastic Lid Hinge Broke. Since We Only Used It Once Each Day For Our Morning Coffee, It Should Have Lasted Much Longer Like All The Other Coffee Makers We Owned Before. I Have Now Ordered A Hamilton Beech 6 Cup Coffee Station On-line From BuyDig, Since Walmart Was Only Promising Delivery In 2 To 3 Weeks.

My husband bought this for me since I am the only one who drinks coffee; but I didn't want to have a large 10-12cup coffee maker. I liked the programming features, but the housing design and plastic materials used to manufacture the entire unit is very poor. The lid pops open a 1/4 inch at the end of brewing cycle, releasing hot steam. The manual says nothing about that issue being a part of the brewing process. Now after using this coffee maker for less than 4 years, it suddenly stopped brewing. I'd press the start button, and the light would blink, but no brewing. I wasted precious bottled water because of it. Sorry, GE - this is a total failure! I won't buy this again, nor will I recommend it.

Great Little Coffee Maker

When I purchased this 3 plus years ago, I was exactly what I wanted. 5 cup programmable coffee maker with a water filter. Pros- Price "bought it for 14.99 on sale" replaceable water filter quickly brewed coffee. Just over 3 min 28 seconds for full pot. classy appearance I like the bright blue Lighting cone style reusable filter or uses #2 cone filters good temperature cons You could not pour the carafe very fast. If you got too quickly of a pour, it would run down the side of the pot on to counter. Sometimes the pause system wouldn't work very well. It may have been operator error or design but sometimes the paper filters would get under the little rubber stopper and cause a leak.

Great Coffee - Bad Carafe
11/28/2013

Customer review by DeltaGal65

This little coffee pot makes GREAT coffee for one or two people but the poor design of the handle on the carafe makes it a bad choice. Because the handle uses counter weight or leverage to grip when you pour, the metal band eventually broke. OTHER than the carafe doesn't have a handle, it still works well. Buyer beware - when you are looking for a coffee pot, make sure the carafe handle is secure to the pot itself ... other wise the metal band won't hold up to daily use!

Another discontinued coffee maker

Apparently Wal-Mart has discontinued this model as they are not available online or in the store I usually shop in. Also, it is almost impossible to find the replacement charcoal water filters. The coffee from this maker was never hot. Putting my cup in the microwave was just a part of my morning routine. I wish someone made a decent, reliable 4-cup coffee maker. All of the emphasis seems to be placed on the larger capacity coffee makers.

I have no clue about coffee makers, but I need a small inexpensive one for myself. I'm not sure if we just use ground coffee for this? Can we use coffee beans that aren't ground? If somebody can explain to me what to do, Thanks in advance.

Use this way, you can warm you left coffee, but we don't recommend you do this regularly.
