Movie Description

The following content was provided by the publisher.

"Star Trek I: The Motion Picture": When an unidentified alien destroys three powerful Klingon cruisers, Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) returns to the newly transformed U.S.S. Enterprise(TM) to take command. Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley and the cast from the acclaimed original Star Trek(TM) television series mobilize at warp speed to stop the alien intruder from its relentless flight toward Earth. "Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan": It is the 23rd century. The Federation starship U.S.S. Enterprise is on routine training maneuvers, and Admiral James T. Kirk seems resigned to the fact that this inspection may well be the last space mission of his career. But Khan is back. Aided by his exiled band of genetic supermen, Khan (Ricardo Montalban) - brilliant renegade of 20th century Earth - has raided Space Station Regula One, stolen a top secret device called Project Genesis, wrested control of another Federation starship, and now schemes to set a most deadly trap for his old enemy Kirk...with the threat of a universal Armageddon. "Star Trek III: The Search For Spock": Admiral Kirk's defeat of Khan and the creation of the Genesis planet are empty victories. Spock is dead and McCoy is inexplicably being driven insane. Then a surprise visit from Sarek, Spock's father, providing a startling revelation: McCoy is harboring Spock's living essence. With one friend alive and one not, but both in pain, Kirk attempts to help his friends by stealing the U.S.S. Enterprise and defying Starfleet's Genesis planet quarantine. But the Klingons have also learned of Genesis and race to meet Kirk in a deadly rendezvous. "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home": It's the 23rd century and a mysterious alien power is threatening Earth by evaporating the oceans and destroying the atmosphere. In a frantic attempt to save mankind, Kirk and his crew must time travel back to 1986 San Francisco where they find a world of punk, pizza and exact-change buses that are as alien as anything they've ever encountered in the far reaches of the galaxy. "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier": It's Stardate 8454.130 and a vacationing Captain Kirk faces two challenges: climbing Yosemite's El Capitan and teaching campfire songs to Spock. But vacations are cut short when a renegade Vulcan hijacks the Enterprise, and pilots it on a journey to uncover the universe's innermost secrets. "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country": After years at war, the Federation and the Klingon Empire prepare for a peace summit. But the prospect of intergalactic glasnost with sworn enemies is an alarming one to Captain Kirk. "They're animals!" he warns. When a Klingon ship is attacked and the Enterprise is held accountable, the dogs of war are unleashed again, as both worlds brace for what may be their final, deadly encounter.

Audio Commentary, Featurettes.

"Star Trek: The Captain's Summit": Filmed exclusively for this release, five of the final frontier's greatest names sit down for a 70-minute rare and unprecedented round table event. Customer Product Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5★ by 41reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great Collection of Star Trek Films With the release of the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek film (2009), I have been wanting to watch as much old Star Trek as possible. Although I had watched a few reruns of the original series with my dad, I didn't fall in love with Star Trek until The Next Generation TV series came out. Then a few years ago I rented the old Star Trek movies and liked those as well. This DVD collection presents all six films in their original theatrical release. They all look great and are in widescreen format. These are not the director's cut versions of the films. Films 2, 3, 4, and 6 are the best. The first film, "The Motion Picture," was a little hard to get through, and the fifth film, directed by William Shatner, had promise but didn't quite come together. Its ending was a big disappointment. Each film has apparently been given new commentaries, which are for the most part quite good. Each disc also has new special features which are mostly worth watching as well. A seventh DVD presents a "Captain's Summit" one-hour special with William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Patrick Stewart, and Jonathan Frakes. This special is certainly worth watching, but it has a few too many light-minded moments. Unfortunately, host Whoopi Goldberg has very little Star Trek knowledge (she didn't know there were six films), and there are other questions one wishes she had asked. Patrick Stewart and Leonard Nimoy are the most interesting in this interview. The seven DVD slim-pack cases are perfect, and there is a solid DVD box that they fit neatly into. One problem is that the plastic covering around the box chips easily. Mine was chipped when it was shipped, and probably should have been shipped in a box instead of a bubble envelope.I still can't believe the price I was able to get on this collection -- I got them while had an incredible sale. Definitely worth more than I paid. I highly recommend it! 02/25/2010
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Saving money is not always worth it To start - I must say I am *NOT* a Trekkie geek - but I do know and enjoy the movies - I have always wanted to get the entire set but usually the have been too expensive - this this offer came up so I jumped - and sorry I did - The movies area all obioulsy newly edited as evidenced by the fact that all the movies in the set have the trailer for the new Star Trek 11 (best of them all) But when they created this set (and the matching set with movies 7-10 they left out numerous very small scenes. Not enough to care if you ahve never seen the movies before - but to avid fans the are very noticable. If you want the full version do not get this set 04/04/2011
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Better then expected Ok let me first say I am not the fan of Star Trek in my family my husband is. I bought this for him for christmas this year. I compared prices and looked at a few other retailers. Walmart had it the cheapest by $1.00 and they offered the free site to store shipping. It doesn't mention this in the listing but it does have the special disk of the conversation between the people who played the captain of the enterprise in each movie having a discussion about their role in the program and the whole thing. Its a great bonus for all star trek fans. My husband was estatic about it. All films are remastered and play great. Overall for what it is and who it was for its a great product. Would definately recommend to any fan of the program. Next year im getting him the Next Generation films/the one with wrath of khan set. 01/03/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great value! If you love the originial Star Trek Movies, you will love this collection set. Well worth the money and the set is amazing! Great value! It's digital remastered and so much better than watching it in its orginial form. Any Star Trek fan should add this to their collection! 04/07/2011
Rated 2 out of 5★ by Broken Case I am sure the DVDs would have been great to watch, but I never opened the package. The main case for the 6 disks is a cheap brittle plastic. It arrived broken! I returned it, but was bummed that you don't get refunded shipping! I would have gotten it site-to-store if it had been an option. My adivce: Buy this one in the store to prevent damaged goods! 01/31/2010
Rated 3 out of 5★ by sad watching the original movie on DVD they cut out almost 20 minutes from the VHS tape several scenes run flat without the parts cut 11/28/2010
