It's challenging--more so than the other Lego games for Wii. You have a lot of options for playing and have to use different spells to do different things in the game. It is awesome though and we love it! New feature is the split screen so when 2 players are in separate areas of the screen they are not pulled towards each other. The split screen can be a bit annoying until you get used to it but the game is still pretty cool.

WII Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is a great game purchased for a 15 year old birthday gift. PROS: good graphics and challenging lego configurations. Walmart offered a wonderful incentive on this new release, same price as other competitors but instead $10 of it went toward a gift card bonus toward other store products, and could be used immediately provided you have an email address. CONS: You have to watch long preview/intro at first game start and cannot save through an incomplete level.

The kids have just loved it. The Lego Star Wars collection for the Wii and PS2 helped them understand how the game operates (very similar premise) substitute magic for the force and there you have it. The split screen is nice as it allows for parallel play without the fights over who gets to decide where to go.

I'm thinking about getting the Wii Lego Harry Potter, but trying to figure out how the game play is for the Wii. Is the wii remote used like a regular controller? (using the d pad and 1 + 2 buttons to manuever) does it use the motion senser function at all (like waving the wii remote as a wand?)

  • A. Neither! You use the Nunchuk with the controller.

  • A. You play the game using the Wii remote and nunchuck. On the Wii remote, A is a selector button as well as a jump button, B is a spell caster. 1 & 2 are for switching spells. The + buttom pauses the game, ends level, looks at extras, ect. C on the nunchuck is also a selector button for spells that you learn as well as lets your character ride objects and switch characters. Z is used to perform spells and pick up objects.

  • A. It uses the nunchuk for moving and swinging the motion sensor for doing the moves to break up the legos. Does not use the remote like regular controller.

  • A. According to my granddaughter, the nunchuk is the biggest control. You switch characters, move, do spells. The remote you choose the spells, but not much else.

  • A. You mainly use the buttons to do everything. Once in awhile you have to point at the screen to shoot a spell at a specific object, but that's about it.

  • A. You'll need a nunchuck to go with the Wii remote for this game. You'll use the joystick on the nunchuck to move and the 'C' and 'Z' to change spells and cast them, but you can cast some spells with the remote by using the 'B' button and pointing the remote.
