Rated 2 out of 5 by Aug706 This surround sound is pretty much what you expect in the sense of you get what you pay for. If you like hearing the words clearly from whatever picture you are watching then this would be perfect. If you want to "feel" your sound then I do not recommend this. But I live in a container in Afghanistan so it works just fine..
Rated 4 out of 5 by littlemiss760 Good sound, great price.. Though I have not been able to use surround sound while watching regular television, vhs, or netflix movies on the wii. Only works when watching dvd's through the dvd player it comes with. Directions explained how to use for regular television, but haven't been able to make that part work. So that was disappointing. Overall, good system though.
Rated 1 out of 5 by squirrel3 DVD surround sound
The surround sound that came with the bundle I purchased does not hook up to my tv and I can not get the surround sound to work with the tv at all.
Rated 5 out of 5 by daddyike great
very very good sound
Rated 2 out of 5 not worth it!
on remote it has no place to open and close the door and at full blast on volume you are better off with TV wide open!
Rated 5 out of 5 by BearaRN NICE
We are using this with our 55" in the family room and the sound is great! DVD player is a great perk, and what a price, can't beat it. It originally came with the 37" RCA Lcd but we put that TV in the bedroom and the theatre system in the family room and it is working beautifully
Rated 5 out of 5 by nona812 Smooth sound out of the speakers. Nice suround sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 WHAT A GREAT DEAL!!!
I GOT THIS THEATER SYSTEM W/A BUNDLE PACKAGE W/MY 40" RCA. THANK YOU!!! I WAS WORRIED MY CURRENT THEATER SYSTEM WOULDN'T BE COMPATABLE BUT I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY NOW BECAUSE IT ALL WORKED OUT FINE. IT REALLY GIVES MY HD EXPIRENCE WORTH THE WHILE. THE ONLY THING IS THAT CAN'T BE COMBINED WITH MY CURRENT CABLE (COMCAST) REMOTE SO I STILL HAVE TO USE SEPERATE REMOTE CONTROLS. BUT THATS OK BECAUSE THE QUALITY IS LOVELY. MAKES FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT LIKE WE'RE REALLY AT THE MOVIES!
Rated 1 out of 5 by J486 Dont Bother...
The system works well with the DVD player. As far as home theatre use with regular TV, spend your money on a better system. The customer service folks at RCA do not know their products and are impossible to understand.
Rated 1 out of 5 by MrRemote not a vary reliable unit am returning it to store

Rated 1 out of 5 by CaveMan123 Don't waste your time or money
Don't waste your time with this product. The sound quality was dissappointing and it stopped working after a week. The unit got real hot and smelled like it shorted out.
Rated 2 out of 5 by AZKID81 OK for a start up system.
I was very excited to set up my new surround sound system. Set up was easy but I found that 250 Watts is just not enough power for me. Also, the product worked good for a couple weeks then started to make this horrendous "nails on a chalk board" sound at random. Returned to the store and up graded to a 1000 Watt RCA system. Much more power!
Rated 2 out of 5 by Blowfeld Static on speakers
Purchased this for my Father-in-Law for Father's Day. Set it up and made sure all the speaker wires were installed correctly. Less than two days later he started experiiencing static on the speakers. Checked for any type of transformer or other electromagnetic interference but no dice. Called RCA Customer support and they are going to take care of it. Will find out if this was a deal or not.
Rated 2 out of 5 by technoidalgeek Waste of money
it has some good features, but they dont work, in theory the optical cable is supposed to carry both audio and video, which it doesnt do. The componant video output doesnt. and when you set up the audio levels for surround sound they only work on certain inputs.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Winston806 Super Poor Quality
I am extremely disappointed in this system!! It sounds like an old AM radio regardless of what settings you try. Save yourself time and frustration and buy something different!!
Rated 3 out of 5 by tedwtfisthatfinok ok for a small bedroom.
Cheaply made and I don not know if it really works properly.
Rated 1 out of 5 by bamafan222003 yes, this is a great value. but its junk. I have had problems with it locking up and ruining dvds. i even sent it back for another one and the next one did it too. Locking up and all. i would not recommend buying this is.
Rated 4 out of 5 by fjs69 OK for the price
I had an old Bose system and even as old as it was had a beter sound quality, but it is OK for what I use this for. I have seen others who said that the system broke down quickly. Knock on wood, mine is fine.
Rated 1 out of 5 by nick08890 God Awful
Came as a package with my tv.
I've bought alot of cheap things in Walmart during my time, but this system has to top it off as the worst product I've ever purchased.
Rated 1 out of 5 by DavidT02 Worthless Speakers - Do not buy
These speakers are worthless. I definitely do not consider myself an audiophile but these are $3 speakers and the subwoofer is sub par as well. Save your money and spend a few extra for something of better quality. My housekeeper threw the box away so I was unable to return this to the local store. It has a lot of inputs/outputs though...
Rated 1 out of 5 by scotty662 This product stop workin in three days had to return it
Rated 1 out of 5 by BAYBAY06 NOT A VERY GOOD PRODUCT
SO I BOUGHT THIS HOME SYSTEM ABOUT A YEAR MAYBE NOT EVEN A YEAR. 2 SPEAKERS ARE BLOWN, DVD PLAYER MESSES UP ALL THE TIME, AND DEF NOT 250 WATTS. ITS QUIETER THAN THE 90 WATT SYSTEM I HAD BEFORE I BOUGHT THIS PIECE OF JUNK! DO NOT BUY!!!!
Rated 1 out of 5 by shopperonline2010 You get what you pay for
Very poor audio system, poor documentation, difficult to set up system, was part of bundle with 720P RCA TV, I never would have chose to buy this system if not part of bundle. Audio system can not switch between different audio types from TV, if TV not set to stereo, some channels had no audio through audio sound system.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Yorkie24 Very nice sound
I bought this as a part of a bundle with a Vizio 37" tv and this came in first so I decided to hook it up to the 27" at home. It sounds great! I can't wait to get the tv to go with it!
Rated 1 out of 5 by Dad7734 Not worth the money
Sub woofer was DOA. Sounded like a cheap laptop. Don't waste your money.
Rated 1 out of 5 by 0498534 Bad Buy
DVD wouldn't work, doesn't get very loud I have a small living room and the speakers just were not what I wanted, I tried playing DVD after DVD old or new and the player either would not read them or didn't see a disc at all.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Uncloudedhatred420 Only works w/DVD.....
This only works when you are watching a DVD movie. If you want the surround sound when watching TV it doesn't work for some reason. So that was pretty dissappointing. Other than that when we do watch movies, it sounds great.
Rated 2 out of 5 by OneontaMasterGardner Limited formatting support for optical audio input
I was enthusiastic, at first, to get a 250W 5.1 system in a brand name from Wally World for only $99 - two weeks ago. For starters, the system did have a nice clean crisp sound. I'll give it that, but it sure didn't sound much like 250W coming out of the speakers. I had to turn the volume to full blast if watching TV from my cable box - just so that I could clearly hear everything. If playing my LG BlueRay from the TV with optical out to the RCA, it was a tad louder, but it still was not sufficient for even my 180 sq foot living room. Now, for the really ugly stuff: My LG 37LH40 TV is a very nice TV that came fully equipped with 5.1 surround sound. When I used the RCA with my new LG LCD TV, the sound got to the RCA OK whenever another component device created the signal and the LG TV merely had to "pass" the signal, but when my LG TV picked up its signal from the airwaves and had to establish its own coding (or formatting?) for the audio being sent to the receiver, this RCA just buzzed and made popping noises. I wasn't sure, at first, that it wasn't a shortcoming in my LG TV that was creating the mismatched connection, but I decided not to chance it. I thus took the RCA back to Walmart and got a refund. I then (this week) bought a Pioneer VSX-819H-k 550W receiver and enough speakers of varying brand names and added them to the two Kenwood speakers that I already owned, and thus built a new 5.1 surrouind sound system (spent a whopping $671). Using my new Pioneer receiver with my LG TV rendered better results than the RCA. I was able to get the LG's audio signal down to my receiver perfectly. The Pioneer apparently has better decoding than the RCA. I like RCA products, generally, especially for the lower prices, but in this case I don't think RCA livied up to their name in connectivity. RCA patented the famous "RCA jack", and that won my respect, but RCA has dropped the ball in failing to support my LG TV's optical audio out. Let the buyer beware. This RCA's optical audio input just doesn't work for every TV out there!
