One day, while chopping wood in the forest, he meets an old woman who rewards his kindness with a golden goose. The goose is endowed with a magical property that holds fast all nosy, envious and greedy people who come into contact with it. As he travels with his feathered friend, Klaus builds up quite a motley collection of hangers-on. Even a miller with his donkey becomes stuck to the strange goose. In the next town, the King's daughter into the depths of despair, Claus succeeds in making her laugh.
