Steven Spielberg directs this heartwarming romantic adventure USA Today calls "a winner". Pete Sandich (Richard Dreyfuss) is a legendary pilot with a passion for daredevil firefighting. However Dorinda (Holly Hunter), the woman he loves, and Al (John Goodman), Pete's best friend, know that legends can't take risks forever.
For all its state-of-the-art special effects, Always is essentially a remake of the 1943 Spencer Tracy-Irene Dunne fantasy vehicle A Guy Named Joe--minus the wartime context. Richard Dreyfuss stars as a reckless fire-fighting pilot who is killed in what was to have been his final mission. Ascending to Heaven, Dreyfuss is introduced to businesslike angel Audrey Hepburn (playing the equivalent of the Lionel Barrymore role in A Guy Named Joe). Hepburn instructs the spectral Dreyfuss to pass on his aviation knowhow to his young successor, Brad Johnson. Our ghostly hero also smoothes the course of romance for his earthly girl friend Holly Hunter, who after several months' worth of grieving has fallen in love with Johnson. Awesome romantic movie This movie has been one of my ultimate favorite movies. I have often tried to find it in stores and recently tried to locate it online. I was so excited to find that Wal-mart had it in stock. It is a nice romantic movie that gives hope to people that have love and lost but then life takes a turn of events and anything is possible.Its a old one be a good one.Enjoy 02/24/2012

Good to watch an old favourite. Along the lines of "Ghost" with better comedy from Richard Dreyfuss (why hasn't he ever won 'Sexiest Man'?). Holly Hunter and John Goodman do a good job playing the roles of the ones left with the aftermath. Some of the lines seem trite now, whereas when the film was first released, they didn't. The storyline remains good. 11/08/2011
