Korean War vet and retired autoworker Walt Kowalski doesn't much like how his life or his neighborhood has turned out. He especially doesn't like the people next door. Hmong immigrants from Southeast Asia. But events force Walt to defend those neighbors against a local gang that feeds on violence and fear. Rated 4 out of 5 by MissingLEG Could be better!! Gran Torino is a good movie! Eastwood did a great job directing this movie. Made some interesting points in an Ordinary Hmong person's life. Hmong people are UNIQUE! This movie show different aspect of Hmong ppls lives. Which is interesting, but do not believe everything that is watched on this movie. I wished that the Hmong ppls that were in this cast was able to voice their opinion on their parts. For example, they made the Hmong ppls very generous for Eastwood's help with the gangster and gifts after gifts were brought to his house! Come on in real life I Hmong ppls will acknowledge you for your help, but they will not give you gift after gift.Overall this movie is GOOD! some portions could be done better to make things understandable. The Hmong actors and actress are so so. They need to freshen up on their Hmong languages! Makes them sound like they can't speak HMONG! 10/31/2009
