Good book, expands on the movie The only other review on here as I write this is referencing the DVD, which, for the record, I did not have any issues with whatsoever. As for this book, it's a pretty straightforward adaptation of the script, including some well fleshed-out scenes not included in the movie itself (they did show up, for the most part, as deleted scenes on the DVD.) The most indispensible creates some sense of young Kirk's joyriding scene, and adds a lot more emotional weight to his childhood, lending a lot more credibility to the Kirk encountered by Captain Pike later on. Stylistically this adaptation is a little too by-the-numbers for my taste, but enjoyable enough regardless. 11/29/2009
I love this movie but it messes up my laptop I watched this movie on my regular DVD player but when I try to watch this movie on my Sony laptop it starts making strange noises. When I tried to insert another DVD to see if the DVD player on my laptop would work it did the same thing. Fearing the worst I restarted my laptop and inserted an old DVD. Wow it worked inserted the new Star Trek DVD and it started to make weird noises again. Tried a couple different DVD's and they all worked until I put the Star Trek DVD in again and strange noises and then no DVD would work after until restarted. Great movie but I would say don't bother putting it in your laptop. 11/18/2009
