I started working out back in November 2009. I injured my back early December and took it easy until mid January 2010. I started on this DVD; I’m not going to lie—it is hard if you are a beginner like I was. I first started with Jillian’s 20 minute workout and graduated to this one. Some days when I felt it was too much, I did half in the morning and the rest after work. I had to constantly keep pushing myself because this is a no-joke workout. But I knew if Jillian could work people out who were 300-400 lbs then I could do it. I kept reminding myself results will come in time (I’m an immediate gratification kind of gal). I started at 197 lbs. and still trying to squeeze into my size 14 (pretty sure by this time I was a large 16, small 18). By my birthday at the end of April, I dropped to a size 12 and 175 lbs. doing this faithfully everyday for 5 days, weekends off and used those as my “cheat” days (I started looking at the nutrition facts and stopped buying foods with high fructose corn syrup/corn syrup, modified starch, enriched bleached/unbleached flours, high sodium, etc). A year later, I have since switched up my workouts with Jillian but am a size 8/10, 160 lbs. and am in the best shape I’ve ever been. I’ve always been overweight (between 175-250) but Jillian’s workouts help me to take better care of myself and everything else falls into place. This is a good start for ANYONE!!

I like the circuits and how she uses a lot of variety to work the same muscles. The first time I did the video I found the workout easy to follow and could feel the concentration on each muscle..............I had a hard time getting into a sitting position for the next week - those backside muscles were sore!! Very effective workout!

If you want to tone EVERY SINGLE part of your body, this work out is perfect for you. I have had it for 4 weeks and use it 2x a week along with jogging 3 days a week. I already notice a difference in my rear end, thighs, and abs. Buy it now!

  • Yes you need a pair of small hand weights. They use 3 lbs weights in the video.

  • You wouldn't have to have weights, but she uses 3lb hand weights in the dvd. It would be more beneficial to have the weights vs no weights.

  • Yes, you need hand weights (depends on fitness level, if you are a beginner, I would start with 3 pounds). A mat is nice, too, as three circuits are performed on the ground.

  • No, you don't need weights, I didn't use them for the first 3 weeks and you still can feel the results in your legs, butt and abs. you are still using your arms and they are getting some workout with the push ups and mat work. hope that helps

  • It depends on your fitness level. If you're a beginner, I would advise to first go through the workouts until you have grasped the moves and are comfortable to knock it up a notch. Move to 3 lb weights, then 5 lbs. If you're need more of a challenge, go to 8 lbs. You can always use the heavier weights for moves that won't strain you and the lighter ones for more difficult moves. BUT don't forget: by applying resistance to your strength training and cardio, you'll burn MORE fat at a rate of 60% faster than doing the moves alone.

  • All Jillian uses is 2 - 3lb dumbells. If you don't have them its ok you will still feel the results.

  • You don't "need" weights but she uses weights in the video. I follow the workout and get sufficient burn without the weights. The exercises are fine without them, especially if you are a beginner like me.
