Customer Product Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5★ by 146reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 Presto 8 Qt Pressure Cooker I was very pleased with the cooker and Walmart Service. It was easy to order and track and it arrived promptly at the local Walmart.I was very pleased with the Product. It did take some getting used to after using another brand that had a 'jiggler' on top, but once I did, it was a breeze to use. The handles on each side are great as it makes it easier to both lock and to carry. I only cook for myself, but it handles small items as well as the large ones. If asked, I would recommend this product to anyone. 04/11/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Love it, so convenient and time saving! As I haven't had it that long, I cant rate durability but love it. I wasn't able to duplicate the nice soft texture of beans I buy in cans. Also canned products have that plastic liner that I am trying to get away from. This duplicates the texture and is so short a time. I have cooked, pinto, garbanzo and black beans so far. Rinse and then put on stove, bring to a boil for 2 minutes, cover for 1 - 2 hours (I usually do 1 1/2) Then rinse thoroughly and just cover, turn to high until steam starts to come out well, turn way way down and start timing from there. 4 minute pintos, 2 minutes black beans and 10 minutes garbanzo. Let the pressure come down on its own after removing from burner another 7 or 10 minutes I estimate and voile! Soft and wonderful better than canned. I believe you can even can in this 8 quart but I am looking at a larger one specific to canning. Aluminum is fine for canning but not to eat out of. Use to talk hours and hours and still not have the texture I was looking for 11/23/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by OMG...oh my goodness...this is a super product Almost didn't buy because of negative comments about the short handles and locking mechanism. I have carpel tunnel syndrome on right hand but the short handles actually distributed weight more evenly. I have used a Presto ss 6qt from late 60's to early 90's, then a Presto 6qt aluminum in 90's to 2005, then a T-Fal 6 qt from late 90's to present day. We lived on a boat for 14 years and pressure cookers were the ultimate appliance for our lifestyle. So with trepidation I ordered the 8 qt short handled ss pressure cooker. Tonight it made chicken tortilla soup and the pressure came up faster than ever...I was pleasantly surprised. The unit is beautiful, the extra 2 qt size means I don't have to use two pressure cookers to cook two corned beef briskets. I'm soon to be 65 and am a fan of pressure cookers and canners. In my estimation the above pressure cooker is "the cat's meow" of pressure cookers. WalMart delivered a day early of scheduled delivery and if I have a problem I take it back to the local store instead of having to mail it back somewhere. Wal-Mart and Presto...you rock! 09/05/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by My mom LOVES IT let me start by saying, my mom has sever RA she has a hard time opening things and needs assistance at times, her other presto pressure cooker died that she had for years and years. She was hessitant about paying 80.00 for this one because she did not want to spend that much money on one, but she did and when she got it we had our regular weekend family dinner and she has never had an pressure cooker open and close so easily that she bought me one. she does not have to fight with it to open or close it like the regular ones it is really smooth and she can grip it from both sides and not worry about it falling out of her hands 01/29/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Well made product perfect size. easy to use. And "made in the USA.I feel I really got my moneys worth.will look for more presto items and Made In USA products. 02/05/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by One of the best kitchen cooking tools to have I couldn't believe how fast it cooked my beans to perfection, no more cooking in the crock pot for 8 hrs. I washed them good and soaked them for 12 hrs. then Just 6 minuets in the pressure cooker. Unbelievable and perfect. 11/04/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Almost Perfect I did do some on line research before purchasing the Presto. Although there are many good ones out there, the deciding factor for me was the company that stands behind the product.I read a number of unfavorable reviews for some of the most popular brands when it came to correcting either a manufacturing defect or replacement of a part on a discontinued model.I have had a Presto 4qt. pressure cooker for 40 years and parts are still available. I replaced it because it's aluminum, and I wanted a stainless steel one.The only reason I did not give this cooker a 5 star rating is because of the pressure gauge. In my old one there are markings on the gauge to show when the pressure level is at the cook range, and you can adjust the heat on your stove to just maintain it. The cook level on the new one is determined by a steady stream of steam coming from the vent, thus it's a guessing game as to whether the heat on the stove too high or not. It took me two usings to get used to it.That's the only complaint I have with it. It came out of the box like a polished piece of silver, a beautiful adition to any kitchen. It cooks perfectly, and cleans up easily. And Presto has been around for a long time and will be around for a long time to come. I love this product. 08/23/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by PRESTO A LEGACY OF SERVICE, AND VALUE I too was initially concerned about stories regarding past safety issues, however after I learned about modern Pressure Cooking safety technology, my concerns were rectified. Conveniently, there are many websites devoted to pressure cooking, which will give useful guidelines assuring the best results, recipes, and explanations on conservative use of power resources. The Presto Pressure Cooker performs on par with expensive imported brands, some of which are being sold at up to 5X more money! Additionally, with its stainless steel construction clean ups are easy, and it does keep the unit looking new. I regularly use my pressure cooker in the preparation of soups, stews, beef shanks, oxtails, short ribs, and various beans, with amazing results! Therefore, I actively recommend, the Presto pressure cooker, for any home cook. 06/19/2010
