This pot works well for me when I have to cook a large amount of stew or make my sauces. I do wish that a larger size was also available for purchase. It brown's the meat quite nicely.

OMG!!!!! I so love this pot. I got it to make Puerto Rican Rice in & Mexican Rice as well when we have party's, but I find myself using it EVERYDAY. I am now asking for another one for Christmas, any size will do because I would love to have all the sizes and if I get more then one of the same size that's great too. I cook everything in it from Rice to Stir-Fry to Soup & Stews even fry Pork Chops in it, then after its done just add a can of Cream of Mushroom soup/can of milk in there with all the dripping and let it sit with the top over it they come out so tender and is great over white rice. I hope you Enjoy your pot as much as I do and NO there is not bad taste in my food from the pan I read that on here that someone said it made their food have a bad taste. Nope I even got one for my Mother~Inlaw for Christmas too so when I go cook at her house I have the same pot to use there love it <3

I got this as a gift and have used it a few times so far to make soups and casseroles. Even though it is a decent pot, I've noticed a strange taste or flavor in the food when I cook with it. I'm not sure if the strange .taste/flavor will slowly wear off with more use (I've used it 3 times so far) but gives the food a bit of plasticy after taste..kind of nasty. I hope it will wear off as I like using this pot.

A great value. I use it for just about everything...soups, pasta, stir fry, browning meat...It browns meat very well. I particularly like that fact that it's lightweight and easy to clean.

    • A. The sides are rather high, so it's not very suitable for frying pancakes or eggs, but it'd work nicely as a chicken fryer, where you're using tongs instead of a pancake turner. It's cast aluminum, so it would be better than your typical stamped aluminum or stamped steel skillet in terms of evenness of heat. It wouldn't retain heat quite as well as cast iron, but a cast iron dutch oven is hard on your arthritis. It's hard to find a great pan for making kettle corn, but this is it. Turn the heat on high, deposit enough liquid oil or lard (no trans fat that way) in the bottom to melt into a puddle about 8" in diameter, and when it is hot enough to "shimmer", add a quarter cup of sugar and stir with a heat-resistant rubber spatula (or wooden spoon). The sugar will melt, and start to carmelize. As soon as is liquid, add a quarter cup of popcorn. When the popcorn starts to pop, add the top, and shake the caldero back and forth, one hand on the lid, to keep the popcorn from sticking. As soon as the corn stops popping, take off the lid, stir it a quick stir, and turn out the corn on newspaper, and salt it before it cools. Wonderful treat while it's still warm. It absorbs humidity from the air, so you want to store it in zip-lock bag, but even so, it's best when fresh and hot. The longer the sugar carmelizes, the more flavor you get, but it's less sweet, so you may want to adjust how quickly you add the popcorn to suit your taste buds. For regular popcorn (FAR better than microwave corn or air popper), omit the sugar in the above process, and add a quarter stick of butter (margarine has trans fat) when the popcorn starts popping. Butter is about 20% water, so you don't want to add it too early or you end up with tough popcorn, like you get from the microwave bags of corn.

    • A. I have used it to fry bacon, but cannot answer as to chicken or other larger, thicker items. I would think so, though.
