The cast on this recording of the Blank Theatre Company's Production of La Chiusa's Little Fish includes a star-studded cast of Broadway stars! From Alice Ripley (Side Show, Sunset Boulevard, The Who's Tommy, The Rocky Horror Show, James Joyce's The Dead, Les Miserables) and Gregory Jbara (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Victor/Victoria, Chicago, Damn Yankees) to Chad Kimball (Into the Woods, Lennon, The Civil War) and Robert Torti (Smokey Joe's Cafe, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Starlight Express), these talents of the great white way, along with Dina Morishita, German Santiago, Samantha Shelton and Brooke Tansle, have created something truly special. Little Fish is inspired by the short storied "Flotsam" and "Days" from Transactions in a Foreign Currency by Deborah Eisenberg. Charlotte, a young writer of short stories, confronts her past, present and future in post 9/11 Manhattan. She quits smoking and embarks on a modern day odyssey as she attempts to fill her nicotine-starved days with swimming at the Y. As the flotsam in her life begins to clear, Charlotte realizes that instead of swimming against the tide, it's smarter and safer, like little fish, to swim with the school. Said The New York Times, Little Fish can be regarded as a direct, Latter-day answer to Stephen Sondheim's Company.
