Nice Player for the money,
04/01/2009
What I like about this Player--The 8GB's stores a lot of music and pictures etc., The built in speakers, I just put it in my shirt pocket and listen to the music without having to use the ear phones. And at night I can just lay it by my bed and listen to music if I have trouble getting to sleep. I like the timer, I generally set mine for 1 hour at night so the player shuts off. It is easy to sync with Windows Media player, whenever I rip new music to my PC using WMP and click on sync the new music automatically loads onto the iRiver Player. The battery lasts a long time, I am not sure how many hours I have listened to my iRiver on a single charge, but it is several. What I don't like is the low volume. I have another MP3 player and it has lot more volume, so I am kinda disappointed with the iRiver's volume and well as the sound quality, ofcouse it may the ear buds that came with it, because with the internal speakers the volume and sound seem fine. That's about it. I hope it helps.

BETTER THAN NOTHING,
03/26/2009
What's Good: Price $59, Capacity 8GB, Better than nothing. What's Bad: Everything else Let me start by saying I'm a technology professional and a fan of Iriver ever since buying my first 128MB model in 2003. I had the previous 6GB model, E10 and it was outstanding. Unfortunately I plugged it into a universal wall charger that fried it, otherwise I'd have never purchased the e100. For me it's all about the music. Sound quality, manipulation, craftsmanship and function, the e100 fails in all of them. The sound quality is mediocre at best, not even close to the E10. The EQ and it's presets are a joke as they decrease sound levels at the various frequencies, instead of like most others, that increase them. It'll hold 2000 songs (not bad), you can access from Artist, Album, Song, Genre or a Playlist. But just try to find what your looking for, NOTHING IS SORTED! That's right, it sorts in the order they were added to the player, so finding what your looking for is slow, tedious and almost impossible. This type of function is why computers were invented, how ridiculous. If you do try to find something, the scroll speed when searching the player is so slow that by the time you get to the middle of your list you've forgotten what your looking for. The unit feels very cheap and the rocker switch for all the buttons is so cheap it may take several push's to activate the function you want if it even activates the right one. Not to mention it may take several seconds to go from one fuction to the next. Don't keep pushing the button, it's thinking?!?! Put it in your pocket or on a lanyard and your going to be constantly touching the rocker switch and activating a function you didn't want. Unless you use the lock all the time. I could go on and on but then I'd need to write a novel about what's wrong with this thing. I bought this as an interim player while I'm waiting for the Samsung P3 due out by June. Again, it's better than nothing, otherwise just say no.

A lot of bang for your buck,
03/24/2009
I am very happy with the Iriver e100. I only use it to record speeches. On that one function I can say that the unit performs very well. I can't speak on music storage or the other functions this player has, as I will never use them. All I wanted was a simple, inexpensive way to record speeches, which I got with this device. The line-in function and recording quality is exactly what I was looking for.

MP3 at a great price,
03/28/2009
I travel - a lot. Plane rides and bus trips are well you need something. I reviewed ZUNE and IPOD . . . great products (Iwant an IPod 2nd g) but -200 to 400 dollars. Ibought this for 60.00 does every thing, (some say poor sound / they bought poor head phones) sounds great in my SkullCandy ear phones and awsome in my BOSE NC headphones. Interface and support are light - but I have figured everything out and am 100% satisfied.
