Paquita La Del Barrio is the stage name of Francisca Viveros Barradas, a Mexican singer of rancheras and other Mexican styles. She was born in Alto Lucero, Veracruz in 1947 and started her career in Ciudad de Mexico in 1970. In her songs she takes a stance against Mexico's sexist male culture, which has made her popular especially with female audiences. She is known for her common song themes of women empowerment and man bashing; her signature phrase, with which she often teases male spectators in her shows, is "Me estas oyendo, inutil?" ("Are you listening, good-for-nothing?"). Many of Paquita's albums and songs are jukebox staples in Mexican clubs and cantinas. Now, Venemusic has taken great pride in putting together a cd/dvd compilation with some of her greatest hits such as; "Arrastrate", "Que Me Perdone Tu Perro", "Perdida", and five videos entitled La Historia...Mis Exitos. Paquita la del Barrio (born Francisca Viveros Barradas) became a celebrity after she decided to move from her native Veracruz to Mexico City in 1970. Her live performance, mainly based on feminist songs with lyrics that are aggressive toward macho attitudes, seduced followers from all around the country.
