Returns Policy

For Items Purchased from a Walmart Marketplace Retailer
If your Order Details page in My Account shows the seller of your item to be anyone other than "Walmart.com", then you have purchased that item from one of our Marketplace Retailers.

Each Marketplace Retailer has its own customer service department and you must contact the Retailer directly if there is a problem with your order. These items cannot be returned to a Walmart store or to Walmart.com. Walmart.com Customer Service cannot track orders or process cancellations, returns or replacements for items that were purchased from a Marketplace Retailer.

For Items Purchased from Walmart.com
All merchandise purchased from Walmart.com may be returned either to a store or by mail within 90 days of receiving it, unless otherwise noted below.

Please review all the information that applies to the item you want to return in order to help us better serve you.

Return by Mail Exceptions
Return to Store Only
  • Gas-Powered Items: Lawn mowers, pressure washers and other gas-powered items cannot be returned by mail due to carrier restrictions. These items must be completely emptied of any flammable liquid (gas, oil) before you return to a store.
  • Tires: Tires shipped to a Walmart store for pickup must be returned to a Walmart store and cannot be returned or exchanged by mail.

Call Customer Service

  • Photo Prints: Photo prints (3x5, 4x6, etc) should not be returned by mail or to a store. To return photos, please email Customer Service.
  • Perishables (Plants, Food, and certain Health and Beauty items): To return perishable items, please email Customer Service with the following information:
    • Order number for the item
    • Date of arrival
    • Condition of item at time of arrival
    • Detailed explanation of the issue

Please be sure to include all of the above information so an associate can better assist you with your concern.

Window Blinds
All factory errors will be fixed at no charge. We will send you replacement parts or replacement blinds. If your blinds are damaged or defective when you receive them, please email Customer Service.

High-Value Items and Orders
A high-value item or order is defined as:

  • A single item that costs $300 or more
  • Two or more of the same product that total $300 or more. (Because they are the same, they can be processed and returned as one unit, rather than as separate items.)

High-value items and orders must be returned via a shipping carrier designated by Walmart.com. Please email Customer Service, and a customer service associate will help you with the return process.

Oversize Items
Oversize items such as large furniture, mattresses, play sets, oversize table games, and treadmills can only be returned by freight. To return an oversize item, please email Customer Service and an associate will help you with the return process.

To ensure that your high-value or oversize item return is processed correctly, please follow these packing instructions:

  1. Box the item securely.
  2. Include the packing slip, all original packaging and all accessories.
  3. Tape the box closed.
  4. Follow the return instructions given to you by the customer service associate.
  5. When the original item is received by Walmart, we will process your return request. If you are not requesting a replacement item, you will be credited for the applicable price and tax less any adjustments already processed. Shipping and gift charges may be credited depending on the reason for return.

Return Guidelines by Department

APPAREL, SHOES & ACCESSORIES
  • Merchandise must be returned unworn, with tickets attached and accompanied by the original invoice.

BOOKS, MOVIES & VIDEO GAMES
  • CDs, DVDs, audiotapes, videotapes and video games: Must be returned unopened.
  • Books: Must be returned unused and unmarked.

ELECTRONICS
  • Computer hardware: Must be returned with any included software within 15 days of receipt.
  • Computer components and computer accessories: Must be returned within 45 days of receipt.
  • Computer software: Must be returned unopened.
  • Camcorders and digital cameras: Must be returned within 30 days of receipt.
  • GPS units, digital music players and portable video players: Must be returned within 15 days of receipt.

GIFTS & PLANTS
  • Electronic and plastic Gift Cards: Not returnable or refundable for cash, except in states where required by law.
  • Perishables (Plants and Food): Perishable items cannot be returned by mail or to a Walmart store. If you receive a damaged or defective perishable item, please email Customer Service with the following information and an associate will be happy to help you:
    • Order number for the item
    • Date of arrival
    • Condition of item at time of arrival
    • Detailed explanation of the issue

HEALTH & BEAUTY
  • If the item is designated as ORM-D (Other Regulated Materials-Domestic), it must be returned in its original package, or with secure ORM-D packaging obtained from the post office. ORM-D items include perfumes, nail polish and aerosol cans. You will see an Important Note regarding ORM-D when printing out a return label from My Account if your item falls into this category.

HOME & GARDEN
  • Custom window blinds: Please see the help section for custom window blinds.
  • Oversize Furniture, Mattresses, and Outdoor Play items: May be returned to a store or by freight shipping. Under some circumstances, you may be charged for return shipping. To return an item by freight, please email Customer Service for assistance. They will also be able to inform you of any return shipping costs.
  • Air Mattresses and Airbeds: Unopened items may be returned for refund or exchange within 15 days. Opened items with receipt may be exchanged for same item or credited towards one of equal or greater value within 15 days. Defective items may be exchanged for the same item or credit given towards one of equal or greater value.
  • Gas-powered items: Including but not limited to lawn mowers and pressure washers. Cannot be returned by mail, due to carrier restrictions. Must be completely emptied of any flammable liquid (gas, oil) if you return the item to a store.

JEWELRY
  • All jewelry, including fine jewelry, may be returned to a Walmart store with a receipt. If you choose to exchange the item in-store, you may only exchange for an item that is in stock at that store; the exact same piece may not be available.
  • To return fine jewelry (pieces that cost $300 and above) by mail: Please follow these instructions to return a fine jewelry item by mail. Depending on the reason for the return, you may be responsible for paying the return shipping charge.

MUSIC
  • CDs and DVDs: Must be returned unopened.
  • Music Downloads: Cannot be returned. All sales are final and all charges from those sales are nonrefundable, except as otherwise stated in the Music Downloads Terms of Service.

PHARMACY
  • Diabetic supplies: Cannot be returned. All sales are final. Please contact the manufacturer if you have any questions regarding defective items. Check your package for the manufacturer's name and contact information.
  • Prescription medications: If you have a question about returning prescription medication, please contact your local store pharmacist, or, if you have used Home Delivery, contact our mail facility at 1-800-273-3455.

PHOTO
TIRES
  • Tires: Tires shipped to a Walmart store for pickup must be returned to a Walmart store and cannot be returned or exchanged by mail.

TOYS, SPORTS & FITNESS
  • Oversize table games and treadmills: May be returned to a Walmart store or by freight shipping. Under some circumstances, you may be charged for return shipping. To return an item by freight, please email Customer Service for assistance. They will also be able to inform you of any return shipping costs.
  • Autographed sports memorabilia: Must be returned with the included Certificate of Authenticity.

Defective items may be exchanged for the same item or credit given towards one of equal or greater value.

Other Exceptions

Here are the exceptions to our general Returns Policy for items purchased from Walmart.com:

Damaged or Defective Items
If an item you receive is damaged or defective, you can return the item to a Walmart store or return it by mail for a full refund. If returning the item by mail, please follow the procedures listed in Return an Item by Mail, choose the appropriate return reason code from the drop-down and choose the option of refund or replacement.

Error-Related Refunds
If there is an error on our part related to your order, we will issue a credit for your order and any applicable shipping and gift-wrapping charges.

Return or Replace a Purchase at the Store

For Items Purchased from a Walmart Marketplace Retailer

For Items Purchased from Walmart.com
You can return an item immediately in a Walmart store. Please see the Returns Policy section above for exceptions.

To return an item to a Walmart store:

  1. Bring the item, along with all original packing materials and accessories, to any Walmart store.
  2. If available, bring the packing slip that came with the item.
  3. If you do not have the original packing slip, you can print out an Easy Returns Receipt from My Account for the item you are returning.

Return or Replace a Gift

For Items Purchased from a Walmart Marketplace Retailer
If your Order Details page in My Account shows the seller of your item to be anyone other than "Walmart.com" then you have purchased that item from one of our Marketplace Retailers.

Each Marketplace Retailer has its own customer service department and you must contact the Retailer directly if there is a problem with your order. These items cannot be returned to a Walmart store or to Walmart.com. You must return the item to the Marketplace Retailer in accordance with their returns policy.

Walmart.com Customer Service cannot track orders or process returns or replacements for items that were purchased from a Marketplace Retailer.

For Items Purchased from Walmart.com
You have two options for returning a gift that came from Walmart.com:

1. Return the Gift to a Walmart Store
An associate will issue an immediate credit to the original payment method or provide a store credit for the cost of the item and the sales tax, if applicable.

2. Return or Replace the Gift by Mail
When you return a gift by mail, the cost of the item and the sales tax, if applicable, will be credited to the original purchaser's payment method when we receive the item. A gift you received may be replaceable by mail, if the item is damaged, defective or incorrect.

Begin the return or replacement process.

You cannot exchange a gift for a different item by mail. Please visit a store to see if an exchange is possible.

Returning Products Containing Hazardous Materials

For Items Purchased from a Walmart Marketplace Retailer

For Items Purchased from Walmart.com
Due to safety hazards, special rules pertain to products that use flammable liquids or gases. In most cases, you will not be able to return the item through the mail.

Keep your original packaging for at least the first 90 days after purchase. Some returns might require an item be placed in its original container; otherwise, special ORM-D packaging from the post office will be needed. (A postal worker can assist you.)

If you need to return a product that might fall into the hazardous materials category, you can check under the department of the item you purchased in our Returns Guidelines by Department section, listed above, under the department of the item you purchased. If you aren't sure which category applies to you, please email Customer Service for assistance.
