Rated 5 out of 5 by brucesharp Overall meets my expectations for my needs
My only issue has been the start up time taking longer than I expected. I don't know if this is Windows 8 loading time or other software preloaded. The hardware specs are much better than my older desktop but not faster to start up than my Windows 7 desktop. Screen is very sharp. Mouse pad is quick but it takes some use to "clicking" without moving ones finger as this is an all in one pad area, not separate left and right clicking areas like my other laptop. Any slight movement in the clicking area causes the cursor to move off the screen click box area. Have not spent a lot of time yet on this new purchase but I feel it will work out just fine.

Windows8 is such a radical departure from previous MS that it will take me eons to learn to use this computer. I wish I. had not bought it.

I've only had this laptop a little while, but I like it. Bigger than I expected, but that's kinda good.
The only things I don't like about it, are the placement of the USB and other device connectors. They're on the sides, up front. And that tends to get in the way. On the right, that's where the mouse goes, you don't want cables sticking out. And for me, on the left, they get in the way when I get up. If there's a thumb drive in there, it's going to get broken off or something. That and the DVD drive is a bit hard to open, hard to find and press that button.
But overall it's a good machine, very fast. Works quite well as far as I can tell. The screen is bright, no dead pixels. Runs very cool too, the last laptop I had, would burn your legs, if you close the lid, it would over heat. This one runs nice and cool, I don't feel any hot spots.
If you're looking for a big screen laptop, this would be a good choice. As far as just being a computer goes, it does what it's supposed to do, and is good at it. Everything else is just aesthetics.
Comes with Windows 8 installed, which isn't as bad as I expected. Any problems with Win8 isn't Asus's fault. But the wide screen comes in handy for using Win8.
I haven't used the BluTooth interface since it's such a power hog on my other devices, I connect via other means. But setting everything up was fast and painless.
