1999 Mustang GT with base system (not Mach system). I first hooked these up in place of my old speakers (all 4) and mids + highs were an improvement but bass a disprovement. I ran them straight from a Sony deck and through the factory amp (which is located under the stock slave CD player you're wondering) with the same results - great mids/highs and craptastic lows. I did some researching and bought an Alpine MRP-F300 amp and WOW - night and day difference! These speakers came alive delivering crisp highs, midrange, and believe it or not bass you can actually feel through your seats. It sounds almost like there are subs in the car. I would highly recommend these speakers WITH an amp.
Rated 5 out of 5 by WAlMArTSHoPPER124525 SPEAKERS BUMB AND CAN HANDLE PRETTY LOUD MUSIC!
BUMPS EVEN LOUDER WITH AND ADDITIONAL AMP FOR SPEAKERS BUT ITS NOT NEEDED. I like that you can purchase a 2 year protection plan in case the speakers blow or something.

I have a 2001 ford escape with a stock cd / tape radio. Bought the Scosche 6x8 speakers to replace my stock ones and they sounded ok, better than the stock ones, but I still wasent satisfied. So I talked to the wallmart guy and asked what he would pick. He said that pioneer and sony both make good speakers and radios, but, those speakers sound best with the like radio, makes sense. He said that KICKER only makes speakers. So I took his advice, made sure I could return the scosche's first,90 days, and bought the KICKERS. (I was ready to just take my auto some where and spend the money for a good system),but,I installed the KICKERS, much to my suprise, they sound fantastic. lots of bass, great hi's, this is all i need. The Walmart guy was right, these are great speakers. Not sure how they would do with a power amp, but , i'm 52 and I really dont need much more than this.
If you just want to boooooost up your stock system, then get these speakers, they will do the trick. I AM TOTALLY SATISFIED. Way to go KICKER.
P.S. The stuff we had in the 80's ,tri axel, power booster ect. are not even as good as just these speakers.

I'd like to start by saying that I have been in to car audio for over a decade..... These things sound AWESOME!! No distortion and they're loud and crisp. For about $70 bucks for a pair, these diffently surprised me. I attempted to pair these with a Kicker 10 TC104, but I did not care for the ported box (which I didn't notice until after I took it home and deboxed it). The bass was low and lacked thump, so I returned it. Went with the Pioneer shallow mount 1500w with the small SEALED BOX. Geez, IT POUNDS!! and only cost about an extra $30 over the Kicker. All this was installed in a 2001 Toyota Tacoma single cab.
BUY THESE SPEAKERS!

I installed these speakers in the stock rear quarter location of a 1995 Eddie Bauer Bronco. I am using a JVC head unit and wanted to upgrade the factory speakers.
I am extremely disappointed, the sound quality is terrible. The JVC head unit has an internal equalizer that allows considerable adjustment including hz ranges for low, mid and highs, yet even it cannot overcome the fuzzy and muffled sound these speakers produce. Trying to get any kind of bass response out of them ( no I don't expect them to sound like a cannon, but this is ridiculous) results in garbled midrange, and eliminating the fuzzy hissing from the mids and highs requires clipping back the eq so bad that they sound muffled.
( And yes I did take every step possible to ensure they had the best opportunity to perform, new wiring, RTV bedding of the frame to its mount and all metal to metal contact in the vicinity of the speaker)
Volume is also much less than the factory speakers, even though they are rated for 35 watts nominal (a perfect match for the head unit).
Mounting them in the Bronco was very difficult (not due to the speakers, but to the location in the truck) so I have not decided yet if I will be pulling them back out or just live with them for awhile.
And what frustrates me the most is that they were purchased in the store, so the price was $69, not the $39 internet price, I could have had the Pioneers for the same money, or Sonys for less.
It is sad that these do not sound as well, let alone better, than my 20 year old, paper cone, factory speakers.
I would not recommend these to anyone, not even for the $39 internet price, a total waste of money and my installation time!
