This product works really well. You could definitely use it alone and it works great under makeup. It helps everything stay on longer and it gives a nice glow. It goes on smoothly and is nice and silky..although it may be a tad too silky. A little goes a long way with this product and I learned that the hard way the first time I used it. But as long as you apply just a bit of it, you should have no problems!

It works great! I don't have to use as much foundation anymore, so it actually pays for itself.
It can be oily if you use too much, a small amount goes a LOOONG way!
I will repurchase again. It's amazing!

Hard Candy illuminating Face Primer is excellent for concealer and foundation base. It allows lasting makeup holding for all day wear. It's less greasy than its other Hard Candy face primer. I highly recommend this product, it's easy to apply, with long lasting affects. It leaves your face with a shimmery glow, like a sun kissed face, great for the day and night time events.

I've used many high end and lower end primers. I was eager to see if Hard Candy's brand would work for me. It is waxy and doesn't spread easily. I don't like it. It doesn't make my skin feel smooth or primed, just waxy and a bit oily. This is definitely not a product I will buy again.

I got his product about a month ago because I saw all of the good reviews on it. Truth is it doesn't spread easily and it makes your skin look oily. Whenever i put a pea size of it on my face it wouldn't spread around.

I had to go to a couple of stores before I found the hard candy line. I first went to a regular walmart, but they had a miniscule beauty section, it was pretty sad, so I went to the supercenter and they had a great selection. A few things were out of stock that I wanted to try, but overall, they had just about everything.
For this illuminating primer I'll highlight the good and the bad.
The good: I have extremely dry skin, to the point where every morning part of my skin routine is to put coconut oil on my face first after I take a shower. Otherwise my skin is so dry it's flaky and itchy. If you have oily skin, this might not be a great product for you. After i exfoliate and put on coconut oil, I put a dab of this on my finger and put it all over my face. It's nice, creamy and smooth. I shook the bottle in case of separation. In comparison to the high end primers, it's not quite as nice. You can tell that the consistency is a little thicker, however since I start with oil on my face, it glides on nicely. Overall, for my skin type this stuff is great for the money.
The bad: I keep seeing a lot of complaints on here from people with oily skin. If you have oily skin, this probably isn't for you, but if you have dry skin like me, try a little oil first, then top with this stuff. My skin sucks up the oil quickly, so I never have a greasy face. I barely noticed the "illumination" of this. I used this in lieu of the regular primer hoping that it would have a brightening/shimmer effect. I didn't really notice anything, but this is still not a "bad" product because of it. I gave it 4 stars only because I expected a stronger "illumination" to it.

This product actually added more oilyness to my skin. It also didn't make my liquid foundation last longer. One positive thing about this product is that it did make my skin have a smooth surface to apply my foundation...but other than that I hated the oily feel throughout the day. I'm not for sure...but if I were to recommend this product to a person, it would probably be to a person who has dry skin. I was very disappointed because I actually really like a lot of hard candy products.
