Rated 5 out of 5 Great value This was the best $229 I ever spent. This product held a lot of items and gave me back a ton of cargo space in my trunk. Assembling some of the rack parts was a little time consuming but oncce I got the hang of it, it was fine. this product is fantastic and gives you more bang for the buck than the fancy Thule or Yakima products. 08/08/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great purchase !!!! I always do a thorough research when ordering something and this was the same with the SportRack Aero 1300 Roof Box. For several years now, my wife and 2 children take a beach trip to North Carolina (OBX) about an 8 hour ride. In the past, I would borrow my brothers Thule roof rack for the trip and it worked fine. Now it was time to buy my own, but didnt want to spend $500 or more like my brother did with his Thule. So I did my analysis as usual, I looked at MANY MANY different manufacturers including the roof box products by SEARS and I narrowed it down to the Sportsrack Areo 1300 being sold by Walmart. With the Walmart store pick up plan it only cost us $250 with tax. that was a great deal. We used it just 2 weeks ago on our trip. I have read many reviews on this product and the reviews did help me with my decision. The Unit is LIGHT weight plastic and easy to move around by myself. I already had used a THULE which had the exact same hardware attachment, so I was familiar on how to intsall. To make it easy, READ the directions and attach the basic hardware on the box ahead of time before hoisting to roof. You can always adjust the cross bars on your roof while it is on top (at least i didnt have an issue- in some reviews people complianed about hardware). My only suggestions is that you purchased soft non-sliding pads like you would use on the bottom of a chair (that is what I used) and attached it to the metal plates provided, this prevents metal to metal contact from hardware to cross bars on roof, I felt it made a tighter fit. The knobs to tighten the unit to the roof were easy and no tools were necessary. They also provide round black stickers to put over the unused holes where the hardware attaches, it prevents any water that might get in. I did have to get up on a step stool to reach both side, because the this roof rack only opens from one side (passenger) which is not a big deal at all. There is a strap to help pull down cover to close. The locking mechanism is a smart one, If the box is not closed properly (because you might have over stuffed it) the lock will not turn. the inside locking bar must make contact at all three spots to be able to lock. THIS is a GOOD feature, because I know if it does lock, then my items inside are secure and NOT going anywhere. Once the roof rack was attached and secure. we were ready for our trip. I was able to put 2 large adult duffle bags and (2) kids suit cases (airplane-carry on size). and placed a beach boogie board inside as well. it was about 100 lbs. or maybe a bit more. This provided more room in the back for all the other things we needed for our beach vacation. Then we hit the road. The unit does shake a very little amount when traveling because of the wind, but this is OK (they all do that) it does not move enough AT ALL to cause any kind of noise, you dont even realize it is there until you look up through your sun roof or get out of car and realize it there. I also drove fairly fast on our trip about 85-90 mph at various times (which i know it might be too fast) but the roof rack did extremely well in highway speeds. It was also weather proof and is designed to be that way and we did go through some heavy downpours on our trip. water was not an issue. (NOT like my brother in law, who settled for a "roof bag" and had to wash all his clothes because they got all wet...LOL) Overall I am completely satisfied with the COST of the roof rack (#1) , the simplicity of removing and installing, the stream line look of it (kind of cool), the durability, and reassurance that my items were dry and secure. I was also very happy with Walmarts on-line in-store pick up procedure. I saved a few bucks $$ by getting it myself instead of delivery. I would fully recommend the SportRack Aero 1300 Roof Box being sold at Walmart to ANYONE who is need of a roof rack. Just forget the over-priced Swiss THULE product. Oh, by the way.... the Sports Rack Aero 1300 is made in the USA, enough said. 09/06/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great rooftop cargo box with low price by Thule Sportrack by Thule. Easy to assemble by one person (30 min max - if take a look the installation manual first!) The hinge works good. The lock works pretty good. It has number marked right beside match with number on two keys. A strap attached to the inside of the lid to make it easier to reach, pull and close. Nice, solid, cool look & low price! 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander Thule 45050 complete crossroad system ($250 on sale @ Canadian Tire) SportRack Aero 1300 Roof Box A26395 ($230 @ 02/06/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Roof Box Just got back from vacation...went to Grayson, Kentucky from Holland, MI and back. Was waterproof!! It held 2 large suitcases, 1 med bag, 2 trumpets, and 5 pillows. Glad I spent the money! Was real easy to attach to roof, and to take it off when we got home. 04/25/2012
