Skil is a Bosch company. Bosch is known for expensive, profession tools. This drill shares similar features and specs to Bosch's own 18V Lithium drill without the $150 price. The drill feels solid and precise. The side handle is a great feature not found on all drills. The battery has 3 LED's on the rear to check the amount of juice remaining. It comes with a soft case with Velcro dividers.
I've checked many stores for a similar deal on a quality brand 18V 1/2" Lithium drill with pro specs such as having a high rpm of at least 1200rpm (this one has 1400rpm), and at least 400" pounds of torque (this one has 450" lbs). Walmart is the only place and this is the only model for less than $100 with tax.

I bought this drill a week ago. I can't speak to it's long term durability of course but so far I love this drill. I'm a professional contractor and use a cordless drill daily for several things like installing and repairing sheet rock, tile backerboard, door and frame work repairs etc. I had wanted another hammer drill for the occasional times that I need to drill in brick or concrete but didn't have the funds for the one I wanted so I settled on this one because it has all the other features I like and needed like an all metal gear train, 400 in. lbs of torque and it fit perfectly in my old drill case that holds all my other bits and attachments. Also this drill will take either the Lithium Ion battery that comes with it or the Nicad battery which is a good thing because to buy a second Li ion battery will cost almost as much as the entire drill kit cost while you can buy a Nicad battery for about $40.00 My only niggle with this drill was that it did not come with two batteries. But for this price for this drill I can live with that and the Li-ion battery has excellent working life before needing a charge.
I found out not getting a hammer drill was not a handicap after all. This baby drills concrete with no problem whatsoever. It has the power! I absolutely love this drill. Skil has a well known reputation in the industry for quality work tools. Who has not ever heard of a Skil-Saw? Well they make drills too and by my experience so far a pretty darn good one. This drill has more power than my old Dewalt 18V or my old Quantum Pro Hammer drill and more features than drills costing $50 more than this one. If you want a good strong drill for a great price don't hesitate to snatch one of these babies up. It's got the goods.

I've had several cordless drills over the years, and just finished a project building 8' shelving units out of 2x4's. With my previous drill, I had to pre-drill holes for screws because neither of my drills could handle the task. Last week, I bought this drill (it was mis-marked at my local store and I got it for even less!!) and used it today to build another shelving unit. No drilling was necessary - all screws were driven in with ease. Very pleased with this drill and am looking forward to getting other Skil tools to use with my li-ion battery!

This cordless drill is more powerful than others I have had in the past. It's surprisingly light weight due to the ION battery. I used it several times and was happy with the performance but today it fell off of my step ladder from a height of four feet. It landed on my shingled roof and the plastic base that holds the battery broke off from the drill. If it had falled from a higher point or landed on concrete, I might be able to understand it breaking but to break under those circumstances is just ridiculous. Either buy a higher quality drill or be extremely careful with this one.
