I can recommend this device with reservations. The NUS1000 installed into my network quite simply, although I did have to configure the IP address manually. From a functional point of view, it does what it says, but there is the rub too. It does not support an NTFS partition except in Read Only mode. It is stated, but not very well in the documentation or reviews about the product. I had a 2TB drive that was NTFS, and had to re-format it as FAT32 to use it as a RW device with the NUS1000. The product cannot be configured to support a specific speed, but relies on the router port instead. While I do not expecially like the FAT32 issue, there is a new model coming that will support full NTFS. There does not appear to be Forums, or FAQS support center for the product, although there is a rudementary QandA on the support page.
I primarily bought this product to connect a 2TB USB device to, to support external backups of multiple PC's.

followed instructions to the Tee, worked fine on my network for about 5 minutes then the device seemed to have a mind of it's own and would not connect anymore...connecting remotely, forget about it...finally gave up after about 12 hours of Frustrating attempts at trouble-shooting with the manual....returned promptly to w-mart for a refund.

My goal is to discontinue the Internet, and for this reason product did not meet my expectation. This device is defiantly configured and maintained by the INTERNET, In fact, the option to maintain it as an in house device is not available . I returned ti to Wal-mart with their usual fully courteous functions, no trouble.

As a former IT professional I highly recommend Linksys/Cisco products. They're the best products available on the market. I've never been disappointed in Linksys / Cisco in over 10 years of use.
