We really wanted a larger oval crockpot, but at our local store the next size up was 7 qts, which we felt was too big for us. There was a 5 qt cooker, but the lid had a rubber seal on the lid. Do not buy any crockpots with the rubber seal. The seal attracts and absorbs order. We had one before, and would hand wash it thorough and run it through 2 dishwasher cycles on the "sterilized" setting and could never get out the smell of cooked food. There is nothing more gross than opening up a cupboard of clean dishes and smelling cooked potroast or cooked chili.
So with that being said, our only option was to get this 4 qt cooker, as the lid does not have a rubber seal, which is what we wanted. We were concerned that someone posted a review that said the 3 legs made this crockpot unstable.
We got it home, and basically the 3 legs only appear unstable. Mainly when you have the crock pot out of the base. So of course the base is light and tilted just a little to lean on the leg, as I was cleaning it. But as my husband pointed out, it won't tip over, at the most it just tilts on to the leg, but again this was only when the cooker is empty. With the crock pot in it, it seems sturdy enough. The weight will keep it balance.
We found it also for only $13.96 at our Walmart, so we were delighted with the price. If anything negative should appear later, we will let you know. But for now, seems to be a great investment for a healthy meal.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Shopper2Be GREAT investment for a noncook's kitchen!
I am not a cook and hate coming home to prepare meals! At one of my weight watchers meetings someone suggested that instead of fast food, I opt to get a slow cooker to prepare meals while I am at work. I didn't want a large 6 or 7 qt slow cooker or spend a lot of money on one especially since it is just one person I have to prepare meals for...This was the right size and my 1st meal (Lemon pepper chicken, brown rice & broccoli) came out smelling and tasting delicious. I set my slow cooker on LOW and put in the meat, ingredients etc then 8-9 hours later I come home to a great smelling kitchen and dinner! Betty crocker online has some pretty easy and great tasting recipes online!
Very sturdy, round removable stoneware dish
Great for Small kitchens or 1-3 family member meals
Easy to use
Recession proof price at $13.95 at my local Wal-mart store
Only 2 settings LOW and HIGH (would love a WARM setting but for the price who cares)
4 qt. doesn't come in stainless steel design

Great buy - love this crock pot have bought at least three for friends because I enjoy mine so much :)
Rated 4 out of 5 by sharonka just what we wanted
was looking for a decent gift for my daughter, nothing fancy, just a good crockpot for her to learn to cook with. This is perfect.
Rated 2 out of 5 by VLNC2566 Description is WRONG
I bought this item because it says clearly that it has 3 settings & that is a lie. There are only 2 cook settings on this item, "High" & "Low" - NO WARM. Do not believe the people who say how great it is to have a warming setting because it does not exist. I will not buy things online from WalMart unless I have seen them first and know that they are described accurately. Very disappointing and wasted my time & money.
Rated 5 out of 5 by mcme1 CROCKPOT 4 QT IS A WORKHORSE at an awesome price!
Love this crockpot!
Holds much more than you would actually think for a 4 qt unit, nice deep pot to it (not oval)....and yet is a smaller footprint for fitting on stovetop or counter.
I made a large pot of chili that could have fed 6 normal people..(in my family it overfeeds 4!)
I really like the stoneware easy clean pot, and it holds a great simmer on high. (Chili was actually done sooner than expected, and tasted terrific.)
It's true it has no warm function, but the stoneware holds the heat in for quite some time w/the lid on. I agree with a previous reviewer..I also did not want a crockpot whose top had a rubber seal, and went with this one since it did not have it. Glad I did, and now no left over food odor smells from the seal! This lid fits great, and being clear means I can easily check on my food w/out lifting the lid.
Unbeatable in-store price of $13.96.
I may buy another of these at this price...it works like a charm!
VERY HAPPY W/PURCHASE!!
Rated 5 out of 5 Excellent
This is the perfect size crockpot for one (or two) people. I've only had it a week, and I've used it three times already. It's a great product for the price, and I couldn't be happier!
Rated 5 out of 5 by sharpshooter2 Ideal midsized crock pot.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Desertguide Great for smaller batches - NO WARM SETTING
I just bought this and discovered there is no warm setting despite the ad. I will keep it as it will supplement my 6 quart crock, just disappointed there is not a warm setting, only off-low-high. Oversight I'm sure, but I still like truth in advertising, but for under $15, not going to pout.
Rated 4 out of 5 by TruckerJeff Great way for a trucker to eat healthy on the road
I'm an over the road trucker looking to lose my "trucker gut" by eating healthier food. I'd also like to not spend $15/meal at truck stops. I bought this item at the Wal-Mart in Lincoln, IL. I use bungee straps to secure it in a cabinet and to secure the lid while I drive and it cooks. The side and lid handles make perfect places to hook small bungee cords to keep the lid on, even on the roughest roads. I just do prep work when I get up in the morning, turn on the crock pot and let it cook my supper while I drive. The only down side is smelling the wonderful aromas of pot roast or pinto beans or corned beef and cabbage while I drive all day. My dog and I are both drooling with anticipation by the end of the day :-)

good price, good appearance, good function~! love it!!!
Rated 5 out of 5 by pcredvette Smaller size is good for one person..
I have used this twice since I purchased it....one for chili and one for corned beef....the latter was put on at 6:30 am and was wonderful when I got home at 4:00 pm.....its exactly what I expected.
Rated 5 out of 5 by CrashFystFight Great but not as pictured.
The slow cooker works fine but in the picture it's oval when I got it it was cylindrical. While it works for what I need I think it would only hold 4qts if it was filled to the top which is a no-no in slow cooking.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Salemsmommy Great slow cooker for a smaller family
The first one I received didn't work (the base would not heat) so I had to exchange it, which was no problem. This one works just fine and cooks the food perfectly. I like to have a couple of slow cookers, of different sizes, depending on what and how much I'm cooking. This one does the job for just about everything I cook since there's just 3 of us most of the time. I only wish it had a "warm" setting on it, instead of just "low" and "high". Just because it's a smaller size doesn't mean companies should omit that feature. Came with a little cookbook and will be trying some of those recipes. Easy to clean; I don't use the dishwasher even though it says you can.

The crockpot and a cookbook were ordered as a gift and was sent to another state. This crockpot was purchased for a man with a busy schedule. He can fix a balanced meal and have it ready when he arrives home from work. This particular item is simple to use. Also ordered a Lowfat Fix It & Forget It cook book. I have had great experience with the Fix it & Forget it cookbooks which are really good for beginners too. The cookbook is one of a series designed for some specific needs. I have the Diabetic Fix It & Forget It book.
Rated 3 out of 5 by mrscountryham Great for a starter
This is ok for a starter crock to cook beans or soups maybe but if you are going to cook with it on a regular basis I would suggest a better model. For me low and high are the same and it is too hot. I made a chicken dish that needed to cook on low for 8 hours, after 2 it was already bubbling and brown around the edge. 8 hours would have burned it up.
Rated 2 out of 5 by jhrn Very disappointed
I use slow cookers all the time, and I have owned many. This one has been a complete disappointment to me. Even on low it cooks hot enough to boil liquids and things are often overcooked. I have never used this on high because I fear it just may burn everything. Also, the unit is very unstable. There are 3 very small rounded "legs" on the bottom that do not properly balance the cooker. I can't count how many times I've fumbled with it or had spills. Even the lid is not very secure. It's as if the lid is not quite the right size and it slips around too much. I've never had any of these issues with any other slow cooker I've used. I have actually retired this cooker to the back of my pantry for emergency use only.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Janna1234 Great little crockpot
I purchased this for a Xmas gift for a friend. I already have one and just love it. Small size is great for a single person or married couple.

I was looking for a slow cooker but didn't want to pay a fortune. This is great. Does what it's supposed to do at a great price.
Rated 3 out of 5 by romeopapa Black looks great, works good, but power cord is very short, only 22", also glass lid does not seal well, good for the money but no star...
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dapper1 Excellent crock pot for 2-4 people ,everything I wanted it to be...
Rated 5 out of 5 by GrammyKay Works Well
Have used it twice. Cooks as expected. Cleans up easily.
Rated 4 out of 5 by greengirl69 Good price
Its a good price and works well, but misleading by saying it has warm and it doesnt, I even wrote down product number to make sure I was getting the right one. But anyways, it is a good crock pot and will make lots of meals for 2-4, just wont be able to keep it warm.

Rated 2 out of 5 by sasquuatch Boils or high simmers on low setting.
Not a slow cooker!
Rated 1 out of 5 by catandfiddle Not very good
I have used slow cookers for some time and think they are the GREATEST appliance ever made. I was very disappointed with this unit. On LOW setting it boils the food and does NOT SLOW COOK.
Rated 3 out of 5 by SarahVA ok but better out there for price
I got this last week but decided to exchange it for the hamilton beach one - which is 1 qt larger, has a "warm" setting which I realized this didnt have, and is more oval which I like better for cooking meat. This one is okay but the picture made it seem like it was somewhat oval, but its the more narrow and tall type. One of my biggest concerns was the sturdiness though, when I first placed it on the counter and tested it out it almost tipped over -- the bottom/base only has 3 rubber stands so if you hold down on one side it tilts. I guess its not a big deal if youre careful but for 1 dollar more and better features I went with the other crock pot.
