Rated 4 out of 5 by Filmview A very good film.
I had been hearing about this film, in particular the performance of James Russo. He didn’t disappoint. Russo was very believable as the paraplegic alcoholic John Brunette. His son Billy (Shawn-Caulin Young) is a drifter looking for a way out of his deadbeat life. Billy spirals out of control when a series of secrets are revealed to him about his father’s past. From there the film becomes a revenge tale as Billy attempts to vindicate his father. A quite film, “Dreams and Shadows” relies on the emotional violence which proves to be even more perverse and deadly than the physical. However as the film peaks both aspects collide eclipsing all in it’s path. I enjoyed this thought provoking dark slice of Americana and highly recommend it.
