I hate when developers of a successful series makes drastic changes to their game. That's the case with this one. It's no longer a free-roaming sandbox type of game. With this game, they now lead you around like a dog on a leash. That's my biggest complaint. It completely changes the feel and sub-genre of the previous one. You go where they tell you to go, no deviations. If you wander too far off the mandatory path, you see a 10-second counter. I'm assuming if you don't get back to the path in time, it realoads the last checkpoint.
They did manage to keep the trademark ability to destroy the things around you, and they brought back a few familiar weapons. And I'll admit the new weapons are great. I'll also admit the graphics are even better.
If you like the standard 3rd person shooters that tell you where to go, and always tell you what to do, then you'll love this. But I like figuring some things out for myelf, instead of being told what button to push and when to push it constantly. Also I like taking my own path and exploring everything. I like choosing which mission to do next. In the last one, I liked playing around with the vehicles and doing great jumps.
I'll also admit I haven't finished the game. I'm only about 4 hours into it, and most of it has been underground.
Also now you'll mostly fight aliens, not much in the way of human enemies so far for me. That takes away some of the believability to me. Also I'm sick of zombie and monster shooters.
There are people out there that will love this game. But if you fell in love with the last one, then you're in for a drastic change with Armageddon
