Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect alternative I have three boys (ages 11-16) with old ipod shuffles. They are obsolete, and buying replacement earbuds (the ones that allow them to skip songs, etc) would cost just about the same amount as buying whole new ipods for them. I bought these for them for Christmas. They work perfectly. All three boys love them. I asked about the problem with only one ear working, but all three report that there is no issue like that. In fact, one son (the 11 year old), who's original earbuds are still working, chooses to use the adapter because he feels the controller is easier to manage. Also, they each have an inexpesive speaker that they can plug their ipod into. With the original earbuds, they had to remove their ipod, make any volume/song adjustments, then plug it BACK into the speaker. With this adapter, they do not have to do that. The star rating is their choice, since they are the ones who use these on a daily basis. All three gave this product five stars. 01/09/2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Explanation Why I still recommend the product but rate it low is that mine had a malfunction & I got no sound from the left ear of my earphones, even though I knew both sides worked. The product seemed fine and I was shocked it didn't work correctly. I am sure another would work fine but i found a sleeve/clip for the ipod shuffle to fit into that also controls it. 07/30/2010
Rated 2 out of 5 by Only Works with Ipods This item works fine with Ipods. However, It didn't work with my "non-apple" mp3 player. 07/15/2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Broken upon receipt Hopefully I just had a bad one but there was a short in the cable upon receipt. Luckily I bought the iLuv at the same time and the iLuv has easier controls for half the price and is rock solid so far. 07/21/2010
