If you were a fan of the series the novelty of seeing the 'men from u.n.c.l.e will enjoy - there are some disappointments, not having the two agents work together directly and some very cliched and ripoffs of James Bond (which is ironic since first and second season UNCLE episodes were often modified and used as Bond movie plots ie: the Deep Hole Affair was loosely used in A View to A Kill with hitting faults to create earthquakes by Thrush /Zorin . Also the Thrush members are new -not carry overs from the series though they treat them like they knew Solo when he worked for UNCLE and was put away by him.. I would recommend it it's enjoyable and more so, again, if you were a fan of the series.
Rated 4 out of 5 by babylon5fan As I remembered it!
This movie is probably not going to appeal to younger viewers, but if you remember the series when it first ran then this is a must add to your collection! I'm not going to go into any detail of the movie, so as not to spoil it for those who have never seen it. Suffice to say that it does have flashes of the old team of Solo(Robert Vaughn) and Kuryakin(David McCallum)! As you watch, try to remember that this was filmed in 1983, and as such the special effects are minimal. The story is not real strong, except for the tie-in with Kuryakin and the second bad guy! I'm looking forward to the seasonal releases of the series! Hopefully that will be soon! RP
