Playhouses and play furniture are great for sparking kids' imaginations. When choosing a playhouse, consider your available space, your child's age and what they like to play.
Before buying a playhouse, make sure you have accurate measurements of your available yard space and check the dimensions of the playhouse. Keep in mind that you'll need space for any doors to open and that kids need space to move around and play outside the playhouse. You should also check the recommended age range listed on the package. Playhouses for older children will usually be larger and may also feature amenities like tables, chairs and play kitchens.
Playhouses also come in different designs that appeal to different personalities. If your child likes to play house, a rustic house with a table and chairs and a kitchenette might be most appropriate. If they like to play knights or princesses, choose a castle-themed playhouse.
For indoor use, consider a play tent. Play tents are usually easy to set up and take down and can be designed to look like houses, castles or cars or decorated with your kid's favorite cartoon characters.
