Solid Blu-ray Player,
06/26/2009
This is a solid Blu-ray player that handles the latest Blu-ray discs and multi-branching titles like T2 Skynet Edition, etc. with no problems. Load times are not a fast as the PS3 and other players but performance is good once discs are loaded.
There is no streaming media options but there is great audio and video without glitches.
DVD up-conversion is just OK at best.
Preview thumbnails are not used like the PS3.
SACD (and DSD) is not supported.
There is a time remaining option which is nice and the info screen is good/similar to the PS3.
There is no eject button on the remote and other buttons are missing from the previous S350 model. The IR codes still work and they can be programmed into universal remotes though to get eject and other functions back. Power Users: some advanced audio/video settings available on the S350 are not available on the S360 (so I've read).
The faceplate flips down when accessing the disc tray. It works well but may cause problems for automated IR systems.
The USB port in the rear is recessed and may prevent larger/bulkier thumb drives from fitting.
All options are easily accessed from the cross media bar (XMB) interface similar to the one used on the PS3 and various other Sony products like AV Receivers, etc.
