Great Starter Bike,
09/15/2009
So i have been doing a lot of research trying to find decent road bikes that have been within my price range for several months. I basically narrowed it down between this bike and a Motobecane Mirage Pro. After weighting the pros and cons of each bike I decided to get the Schwinn. Honestly I was skeptical. I have heard that the quality of Schwinn bikes have gone down dramatically and they weren't the same reliable company that they used to be before they were bought out. When I received the bike I found it very nicely packaged and shipped. It came in only 4 days as well, the 13.95 shipping is a very good bargain. Upon opening and assembling the bike, I tediously searched over the bike for cracks in the carbon fiber or damaged components. I found none except a small scratch that appeared to be from previous installation of the rear wheel. Other than that the bike was perfect. Shimano 2200 derailleurs aren't the best out there and adjusting them takes time. I found the rear derailleur to be perfectly adjusted but the front needed a lot of work. My honest recommendation is to take the bike in to your local bike shop and have a full tune up done to the bike. Its only $45 at my shop and totally worth it. Upon opening up the front and rear hubs I found less than necessary amounts of grease so they definitely need to be repacked. The bottom bracket, however, was fine. The cranks on the bike are nice, however they are an odd brand I have never heard of and a bit on the heavy side. The bike weights around 20lbs which is acceptable for a bike this size with the materials it is made out of but then again it should way a pound or two less. Then again it is a $500 dollar bike. So on to the part about riding it. It is a blast to ride and the STI shifters work wonderfully. I am really surprised about how the bike feels on the road. I have friends who have $1500 plus road bikes and this bike feels just as good. Overall I would recommend this bike to anyone who wants to look into riding bikes for a hobby or competitively. It is an overall nice bike with decent components and the good news is is you can find used shimano 105 derailleurs on ebay for around $20 bucks a pop and upgrade to nice derailleurs for hardly any cost. Hope this helps!

Great Buy! Very Satisfied,
07/13/2009
This is my first road bike but I have researched the internet thoroughly before making a purchase. Many sites say to buy a used bike, which i didn't want, or a bike from a bike shop (at least 700). This bike has a carbon fiber fork and rear triangle which therefore makes it light. You can not find another bike that has those features for this price. Although 14 speeds isnt that much, it is enough for the riding that I do. I have gone out twice and done about 25 miles thusfar. There havent been any problems yet and everything is great, not to mention the bike looks great. Assembly was simple, attack front wheel, handle bars, run the brake lines, adjust the brakes, and you're ready to go. All in all took me about half an hour. I needed a good bike pump to inflate up to 125 psi, but I also found a good one at Walmart for $16. I'll update my review if there are any problems. I'm 6'0" 190 and the bike fits me well.

Nice bike, too small for me,
05/17/2009
I am 6'0 with a 34" inseam, and this bike is too small for me. Unfortunately the ad online doesn't really give very good specs, so I measured it out. It is a 20.25" (52cm) frame from center of crank to top of top tube; or 19.5" (49.5cm) to middle of top tube. I found myself requiring the seat adjusted too high, which meant I had to bend over really far to get to the handle bars. This made it a bit hard on my back and neck. Otherwise the bike rides pretty darn well for $500. After some research I found I need about a 58cm frame. I am going to return it, and hopefully someone shorter will really enjoy this bike!

Road Bike Bargain,
03/10/2009
This is my first serious road bike. I've had a Trek hybrid, but this is for different riding venues. The CF-1000 is 23.8 pounds - you can bank on the accuracy of that number. I also recently bought a Fuji Aloha 1.0 (time trials bike with aero bars, etc) also for a slightly different purpose, but it also went for $1300. The CF-1000 is VERY comparable to the Fuji. The wheels/tires are superb; anything with 700C x 23 tires which inflate to 125psi will ride with very low resistance. They have Schraeder valves (not Presta valves) which surprised me, but I have not had to re-inflate them all the time, not even weekly, etc. The saddle is stiff, but what do you want? Change it if you want to, or buy a gel cushion, etc. It's not a San Marco Ponza power saddle, but it's actually pretty close. The CF-1000 shifts well, brakes well, looks great especially with those Panther aero wheels. The best $500 bike on the market, period.
